The traditional architecture is elevated with thoughtful modern detailing, giving the home a strong presence from both land and water.
The Approach
The design focused on creating a strong architectural identity while maximizing natural light and lake views. The great room’s prominent gable peak, flanked by balanced dormers, establishes a classic cottage silhouette that feels both grounded and inviting.
Inside, the use of natural Douglas fir, engineered hardwood, and cultured stone add warmth and texture. Cathedral ceilings and an expansive window wall create a bright, airy atmosphere that emphasizes connection to the outdoors. Durable, timeless materials—like herringbone tile and custom painted cabinetry—were selected for both aesthetic longevity and everyday function.
The Outcome
The finished cottage is a harmonious blend of traditional form and contemporary comfort. From the water, its gabled façade stands proudly as a hallmark of classic lakeside living.
