Project Overview
Designed as both a peaceful retirement retreat and a welcoming family destination, this 2,240 sq. ft. lakehouse blends timeless craftsmanship with thoughtful functionality. The home places all essential living spaces on the main floor, while the walkout level provides ample room for guests, hobbies, and entertainment. Every decision—from layout to materials—prioritizes comfort, longevity, and connection to the lake.
The Approach
The design strategy focused on maximizing the home’s relationship with the natural shoreline. By angling the structure 45 degrees, the architecture embraces the curve of the land and captures stunning panoramic water views.
Inside and out, the material palette emphasizes warmth and natural beauty: Douglas fir timber elements, premium wood cladding, reclaimed hickory flooring, and quartz surfaces. Functional planning supported long-term living needs, including a main-floor primary suite and accessibility-forward features such as a curbless shower.
The Outcome
The finished lakehouse is both refined and welcoming—a place that supports easy day-to-day living while offering abundant room for family gatherings. Its thoughtful orientation creates a natural flow toward the outdoors, connecting interior spaces seamlessly to the lake. Rich wood tones, durable finishes, and purposeful room layouts come together to create a home that feels grounded, comfortable, and enduring.
Cedar Winds Approach
The defining feature of this project is the shoreline-inspired 45° angle, a design move that not only enhances the aesthetic but transforms the experience of the home. No matter where you stand—kitchen, great room, or lower-level lounge—you’re granted a wide, uninterrupted view of the water.
This angle became the soul of the design: subtle, beautiful, and deeply connected to place.
