Project Overview
Designed as a modern retreat tucked into the landscape of Little Glamour Lake, this 968 sq. ft. cottage brings contemporary architecture to a compact, highly functional footprint. The intersecting rooflines create a bold exterior statement while also supporting a layout that feels open, warm, and connected to its surroundings. With three bedrooms and thoughtful year-round features, it’s a cozy yet sophisticated escape in every season.
The Approach
The design intent was to capture sunlight, enhance natural views, and echo the beauty of the forested site. A contemporary form—defined by dramatic intersecting roof angles—sets the tone for the entire project. Neutral colours, organic textures, and solid Douglas fir timbers anchor the interior, blending the architecture seamlessly with the natural environment. Every element was selected to feel calm, grounding, and effortlessly modern.
The Outcome
The finished cottage delivers a refined contemporary aesthetic without losing the comfort of a lakeside retreat. Sunlight fills the spaces, the timber accents bring warmth, and the compact layout lives much larger than its footprint. The result is a modern cabin with personality and purpose—inviting, efficient, and beautifully responsive to the natural landscape that surrounds it.
